Tips
What is that saying,
"Build it and they will come"? That may
work for some things but for the Web it's more
appropriate to say, "Build it, market it and then
they will come".
Here are just a few tips
to use in addition to search engine registrations to help
promote your website. Maybe
some or all of them will be appropriate for you to use.
- Include
your website address on everything just as your
physical address and phone number are, i.e.
business cards, stationery, printed advertisement,
etc.
- Still
have a supply of stationery to use up? Try using a
small coordinating label with your website address
inviting people to visit your website. Stick them
on outgoing envelopes, the back of your business
cards, whatever is appropriate for your business.
- Don't
forget to include your website address on
promotional items such as tee shirts, mugs, golf
balls, pens, calendars, etc.
- If
you're a team sponsor include your website address
along with your name on the team shirts.
- Include your
URL in
answering machine or voice-mail messages. For
those who call your office outside of office hours, why
not spell out your Web address in your message, so that
they can immediately help themselves to the information they need?
- Include
a signature file containing your website address
at the end of every email message you send.
- Host a
giveaway. Announce a drawing for a free something-or-other
once a month. Those who sign the guest book during
that period -- and people can re-register every month --
are eligible to win.
- Offer discounts
with an online coupon.
-
Exchanging links with other sites is a
very popular way to increase traffic
to your site.
- Some associations
and/or clubs list member website
addressees in printed directories as well as a link to
their members' website from the association's website.
Don't miss out on this opportunity.
